Profile of breast cancer screening in the Municipality of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil

Resumo: The present study aimed to know the profile of mammograms performed in Campina Grande - PB, in the period from 2015 to 2019. This is an explanatory documentary study with a quantitative approach. The research was carried out in the DATASUS database, during the month of October 2020, the universe of research was constituted of the reported cases of mammography in the state. The sample consisted of the number of screening and diagnostic mammograms performed in the municipality. There was a prevalence of screening mammograms in 2015 among women aged 40- 49 years (3,638; 41.2%), as well as in 2016 (3,456; 39.9%), however, in 2017 (3,291; 38.8%), 2018 (3,417; 39.7%) and 2019 (3,921; 39.3%) the prevalence occurred among those aged 50-59. The age group with the lowest prevalence corresponded to women aged 60-69 years. Regarding the proportional distribution of BI-RADS, according to clinical indication, the most expressive results were shown in the BI-RADS 2 category, followed by BIRADS 1 and 0. In the variable on the number of nodules, greater predominance of sizes ≤ 10mm and ≤11-20mm both on the right and on the left breast, and between the age group of 40 to 59 years in both breasts. It is hoped that this work can contribute to future studies and clarify essential information for the area of ​​screening. In addition, to provide greater knowledge about the profile of mammograms in the current city in search of improvements in screening, contributing to the lower rate of breast cancer.

Se trata de un estudio documental explicativo con abordaje cuantitativo. La investigación se realizó en la base de datos DATASUS, durante el mes de octubre de 2020, el universo de investigación estuvo constituido por los casos reportados de mamografías en el estado. La muestra estuvo constituida por el número de mamografías de cribado y diagnóstico realizadas en el municipio. Hubo una prevalencia de mamografías de detección en 2015 entre mujeres de 40 a 49 años (3.638; 41,2%), así como en 2016 (3.456; 39,9%), sin embargo, en 2017 (3.291; 38,8%), 2018 (3.417; 39,7%) y 2019 (3.921; 39,3%) la prevalencia ocurrió entre las personas de 50 a 59 años. El grupo de edad con menor prevalencia correspondió a mujeres de 60 a 69 años. En relación a la distribución proporcional de BI-RADS, según indicación clínica, los resultados más expresivos se presentaron en la categoría BI-RADS 2, seguida de BIRADS 1 y 0. En la variable sobre el número de nódulos, mayor predominio de tamaños ≤ 10mm y ≤11-20mm tanto en la mama derecha como en la izquierda, y entre el grupo de edad de 40 a 59 años en ambas mamas. Se espera que este trabajo pueda contribuir a futuros estudios y aclarar información esencial para el área del cribado. Además, brindar un mayor conocimiento sobre el perfil de las mamografías en la ciudad actual en busca de mejoras en el cribado, contribuyendo a la menor tasa de cáncer de mama.O presente estudo teve como objetivo conhecer o perfil das mamografias realizadas em Campina Grande - PB, no período de 2015 a 2019. Trata-se de um estudo documental de caráter explicativo com abordagem quantitativa. A pesquisa foi realizada na base de dados do DATASUS, durante o mês de outubro de 2020, o universo da pesquisa foi constituído dos casos notificados de mamografia no estado. A amostra foi composta do número de mamografias de rastreio e diagnóstico realizados no município. Houve prevalência de mamografias de rastreio no ano de 2015 entre mulheres com faixa etária de 40- 49 anos (3.638; 41,2%), assim como em 2016 (3.456; 39,9%), entretanto, nos anos de 2017 (3.291; 38,8%), 2018 (3.417;39,7%) e 2019 (3.921;39,3%) a prevalência ocorreu entre aquelas com idade de 50-59. A faixa etária com menor prevalência correspondeu às mulheres de 60-69 anos. Em relação a distribuição proporcional de BI-RADS, conforme indicação clínica, os resultados mais expressivos estiveram dispostos na categoria BI-RADS 2, seguido do BIRADS 1 e 0. Na variável sobre número de nódulos, foram observadas nas mamografias de rastreio maiores predominâncias dos tamanhos ≤ 10mm e ≤11-20mm tanto mama direita como na esquerda, e entre a faixa etária de 40 a 59 anos em ambas as mamas. Espera-se que esse trabalho possa contribuir para futuros estudos e esclarecer informações essenciais para a área de rastreio.
