Resumo: | The growth of the urban population is currently a concern of the public power and population, since it generates an occupation at a fast pace, constantly carried out without planning. To do so, it is necessary to identify areas susceptible to geological risk, in order to protect the population from the occurrence of landslides, in addition to recovering and protecting spaces already occupied. The present study aims to develop an evaluation method with the aid of Geoprocessing software in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which provides the mapping of areas susceptible to mass gravitational movements located in the urban areas of Teófilo Otoni. In order to do so, the study area was delimited, followed by the identification and qualification of danger areas to planar landslide gravitational movements and, finally, risk qualification in some of these areas. This time, thirty-five areas of danger to planar landslide processes were identified and qualified, and the risk areas present in three of the districts of the municipality were delineated and classified, demonstrating that the use of geoprocessing technologies in a GIS platform satisfactorily provided the mapping of risk areas in urban spaces. |

Para ello, es necesario identificar las áreas susceptibles a riesgo geológico, con el fin de proteger a la población de la ocurrencia de deslizamientos, además de recuperar y proteger espacios ya ocupados. El presente estudio busca desarrollar un método de evaluación con el auxilio de un software de geoprocesamiento en Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG), que proporcione el mapeo de áreas susceptibles a movimientos gravitacionales de masa localizadas en los espacios urbanos de Teófilo Otoni. Para ello, se realizó la delimitación del área de estudio, seguida de la identificación y calificación de las áreas de peligro a movimientos gravitacionales de masa de deslizamiento planar y, por último, calificación del riesgo en algunas de estas áreas. De esta forma, se identificaron y calificaron treinta y cinco áreas de peligro a procesos de deslizamiento planar, siendo delimitadas y clasificadas las áreas de riesgo presentes en tres de los barrios del municipio, demostrando que la utilización de tecnologías de geoprocesamiento en plataforma SIG proporcionó de forma satisfactoria el mapeo de áreas de riesgo en espacios urbanos.O crescimento da população urbana é, atualmente, objeto de preocupação do poder público e da população, uma vez que o mesmo gera uma ocupação em ritmo acelerado, constantemente realizada sem planejamento. Para tanto, é necessário identificar as áreas suscetíveis a risco geológico, no intuito de proteger a população da ocorrência de deslizamentos, além de recuperar e proteger espaços já ocupados. O presente estudo busca desenvolver um método de avaliação com o auxílio de um software de geoprocessamento em Sistemas de Informações Geográficas (SIG), que proporcione o mapeamento de áreas suscetíveis a movimentos gravitacionais de massa localizadas nos espaços urbanos de Teófilo Otoni. Para tanto, foi realizada a delimitação da área de estudo, seguida da identificação e qualificação das áreas de perigo a movimentos gravitacionais de massa de deslizamento planar e, por fim, qualificação do risco em algumas destas áreas.
