Distance Tutoring: A Study on the Dimensions of Mediation

Summary: | Distance education has been gaining more space in the educational field, thus, diversified methodologies are elaborated in search of possibilities that leverage the experiences of this teaching modality, involving all the actors of this process as teachers and tutors. This article presents a clipping of a master's dissertation that analyzed the tutors 'understanding about mediation in the pedagogical, affective and operational dimensions, as it understands the important mediation process for the students' permanence and completion in the enrolled courses. We rely on research conducted by Masetto, Almeida, Moran, Silva, Freire and also on quality references for distance education in conceptualizing mediation. In this article, we approach the concept of mediation resulting from one of the analyzes performed with the tutors of a distance education institution in the country. The methodology used in this research is exploratory, qualitative in nature to understand the mediation of tutors as an inseparable part of distance education. The results showed that tutors sought through mediation to motivate and engage their students in the courses. |

Este artículo presenta un recorte de una disertación de maestría que analizó la comprensión de los tutores sobre la mediación en las dimensiones pedagógica, afectiva y operativa, ya que comprende el importante proceso de mediación para la permanencia y finalización de los estudiantes en los cursos inscritos. Confiamos en la investigación realizada por Masetto, Almeida, Moran, Silva, Freire y también en referencias de calidad para la educación a distancia en la conceptualización de la mediación. En este artículo, abordamos el concepto de mediación resultante de uno de los análisis realizados con los tutores de una institución de educación a distancia en el país. La metodología utilizada en esta investigación es exploratoria, de naturaleza cualitativa para entender la mediación de los tutores como una parte inseparable de la educación a distancia. Los resultados mostraron que los tutores buscaban a través de la mediación motivar e involucrar a sus estudiantes en los cursos.A Educação a distância vem a cada dia ganhando mais espaço no âmbito educacional, assim, metodologias diversificadas são elaboradas em busca de possibilidades que visem alavancar as experiências desta modalidade de ensino, envolvendo todos os atores deste processo como professores e tutores. Este artigo apresenta o recorte de uma dissertação de mestrado que analisou a compreensão de tutores acerca da mediação nas dimensões pedagógica, afetiva e operacional, por entender o processo de mediação importante para a permanência e conclusão dos alunos nos cursos matriculados. Apoiamo-nos nas pesquisas realizadas por Masetto, Almeida, Moran, Silva, Freire e também nos referenciais de qualidade para a educação a distância ao conceituar mediação. Abordamos neste artigo, o conceito de mediação resultado de uma das análises realizada junto aos tutores de uma instituição de Educação a distância do país. A metodologia utilizada nesta pesquisa é do tipo exploratória, de cunho qualitativo com o objetivo de entender a mediação de tutores como parte indissociável da Educação a distância.
