Evaluation and control of absenteeism to Dentistry consultations in the school health program

Resumo: The absences of dental consultations has motives that need to be studied together in order to intervene in order to reduce their rates. The study aims to measure absenteeism in scheduling and treatment among schoolchildren; evaluate the reasons for those responsible for not attending the scheduled appointment; and propose strategies for coping with absenteeism. A descriptive analysis of the results of the need assessment and the follow up of the curative actions was carried out. Semistructured interviews with the mothers were analyzed under the descriptive qualitative aspect. Of those who received the communication for scheduling only 32.98% made the markup. After the consultation, 75.52% attended. Of the students who attended the first consultation, 30.66% dropped out. In addition to non-marking, non-attendance and dropout, 85.31% of the students were absent from consultations. The mothers revealed that socio-cultural issues have a very important contribution and proposed ways of reducing absenteeism. How caregivers see health is crucial for deciding when to start treatment. Changing this paradigm is the key to achieving universal oral health based on health promotion, education and prevention.

El estudio tiene como objetivo medir el absentismo en la programación y el trato de los estudiantes, valorar los motivos de la no asistencia a la cita programada y proponer estrategias para afrontar el absentismo. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de los resultados de la encuesta de necesidad y seguimiento de acciones curativas. Las entrevistas con las madres en un guión semiestructurado se analizaron bajo el aspecto descriptivo cualitativo. De los que recibieron la comunicación para la programación, solo el 32,98% accedió a la cita. Tras la cita acudió el 75,52%. De los estudiantes que acudieron a la primera consulta, abandonó el 30,66%. Sumando la no programación a la inasistencia y la deserción, obtuvimos un valor de 85,31% de alumnos ausentes de las consultas. Las madres revelaron que los temas socioculturales tienen un aporte muy importante y propusieron formas de reducir el absentismo. La forma en que los líderes escolares ven la salud es crucial para decidir cuándo comenzar el tratamiento. Cambiar este paradigma es la clave para lograr la salud bucal universal basada en la promoción, educación y prevención de la salud.As faltas às consultas odontológicas possuem motivos que precisam ser estudados em conjunto para que se possa intervir visando à redução de seus índices. O estudo tem como objetivo mensurar o absenteísmo no agendamento e tratamento de escolares avaliar os motivos para o não comparecimento à consulta agendada e propor estratégias para o enfrentamento do absenteísmo. Foi realizada uma análise descritiva dos resultados do levantamento de necessidade e do acompanhamento das ações curativas. Entrevistas em roteiro semiestruturado com as mães foram analisadas sob o aspecto descritivo qualitativo. Daqueles que receberam a comunicação para agendamento, apenas 32,98% realizaram a marcação. Marcada a consulta, 75,52% compareceram. Dos educandos que compareceram à primeira consulta, 30,66% abandonaram. Somando-se a não marcação ao não comparecimento e ao abandono, obteve-se um valor de 85,31% dos estudantes se ausentaram às consultas. As mães revelaram que questões socioculturais tem uma contribuição muito importante e propuseram formas de se reduzir o absenteísmo. A forma como os responsáveis pelos escolares vê a saúde é crucial para a decisão de quando se iniciar um tratamento.
