Content Validation of checklists to assess the combination of fundamental motor skills

Resumo: This study aimed to verify the evidences of validity of content in two checklists that analyze the combination of fundamental motor skills. To this end, the study was divided in three rounds. First, nine judges measured items of the checklists based on the Likert scale, varying from “1”, not at all to “5”, very much clear, pertinent and representative, for the content evidence validity. After the first stage of analysis, eight items were excluded in the skill to throw the ball over the shoulder (CVCt = 0.72) and in the horizontal jump (CVCt = 0.77). Then, the instruments were reduced to only four items in order to analyze the quality of the pattern of combination of fundamental motor skills. The results of the second stage of analysis presented clear, pertinent and representative to all four items of the instrument. Content validity was found for both running and throwing combination analysis instruments (CVCt = 0.89) as for running and jumping (CVCt = 0.86). However, there were still suggestions from the judges for adjustments in the wording of the items of both instruments. Therefore, after the third round of analysis, there was evidence of validity of the content to the checklists of running and throwing (CVCt = 0.89), as well as running and jumping (CVCt = 0.89). In general, the results indicated content validity evidence. The instruments can be useful tools for researchers and physical education teachers as well as sports coaches.

Por lo tanto, el estudio se dividió en tres rondas. Primero, nueve jueces evaluaron los elementos de la lista de verificación con base en la escala de Likert, que van desde "1", nada, hasta "5", muy claro, relevante y representativo, para la validez de la evidencia de contenido. Después de la primera etapa de análisis, ocho ítems fueron excluidos en la habilidad de lanzar el balón por encima del hombro (CVCt = 0,72) y en el salto horizontal (CVCt = 0,77). Posteriormente, los instrumentos se redujeron a solo cuatro ítems para analizar la calidad del patrón de combinación de habilidades motrices fundamentales. Los resultados de la segunda ronda de análisis presentaron los cuatro elementos como claros, relevantes y representativos. Se encontró validez de contenido para los instrumentos de análisis de combinación de carrera y lanzamiento (CVCt = 0,89) y carrera y salto (CVCt = 0,86). Sin embargo, aún hubo sugerencias de los jueces para ajustes en la redacción de los ítems de ambos instrumentos. Por lo tanto, después de la tercera ronda de análisis, se evidenció la validez de contenido de las listas de verificación de carreras y lanzamientos (CVCt = 0,89), así como las listas de verificación de carreras y saltos (CVCt = 0,89). En general, los resultados indicaron evidencia de validez de contenido. Los instrumentos pueden ser herramientas útiles para investigadores y profesores de educación física y entrenadores de atletismo.Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar a evidência de validade de conteúdo em duas listas de checagem de análise da combinação de habilidades motoras fundamentais. Para tanto, o estudo foi dividido em três rodadas. Primeiramente, nove juízes avaliaram itens das listas de checagem com base na escala Likert, variando de “1”, nada, a “5”, muito claro, pertinente e representativo, para validade de evidência de conteúdo. Após a primeira etapa de análise, oito itens foram excluídos na habilidade de arremessar a bola por cima do ombro (CVCt = 0,72) e no salto horizontal (CVCt = 0,77). Posteriormente, os instrumentos foram reduzidos para apenas quatro itens a fim de analisar a qualidade do padrão de combinação das habilidades motoras fundamentais. Os resultados da segunda rodada de análise apresentaram todos os quatro itens claros, pertinentes e representativos. A validade de conteúdo foi encontrada tanto para ambos os instrumentos de análise de combinação de corrida e arremesso (CVCt = 0,89) quanto para corrida e salto (CVCt = 0,86). No entanto, ainda houve sugestões dos juízes para ajustes na redação dos itens de ambos os instrumentos. Portanto, após a terceira rodada de análise, evidenciou-se a validade de conteúdo das listas de checagem de corrida e arremesso (CVCt = 0,89), bem como da corrida e salto (CVCt = 0,89). Em geral, os resultados indicaram evidências de validade de conteúdo.
