Nursing Interventions in Neonatal Intensive Care: An experience report

Resumo: | This work aims to report the experience of Nursing students in a supervised internship field, during the provision of intensive neonatal care, as well as the interventions developed in order to improve the quality of care in the sector. This is an experience report lived by students of the Bachelor of Nursing course, during the Curricular Stage II discipline, which had a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as its setting. Situational analysis of the unit was performed; then a planning of the interventions was constructed and, finally, their implementation during the internship period. The field of practice provided the development of knowledge, skills and abilities of the students in the field of neonatology. The activities developed by the academics promoted greater organization and agility in assisting the newborn; improved reception of parents and relatives of newborns admitted to the NICU; implementation of a routine for evaluating and controlling the quality of care provided in the sector and creating a space for the exchange of knowledge and practices among the entire health team. From the work, it is clear that the existence of students in the health unit can act as an incentive to the reflective practice of the service professionals. |

From the work, it is clear that the existence of students in the health unit can act as an incentive to the reflective practice of the service professionals.Este trabajo tiene como objetivo informar la experiencia de los estudiantes de enfermería en un campo de pasantías supervisadas, durante la provisión de cuidados neonatales intensivos, así como las intervenciones desarrolladas para mejorar la calidad de la atención en el sector. Este es un informe de experiencia vivido por estudiantes del curso de Licenciatura en Enfermería, durante la disciplina Curricular Etapa II, que tuvo lugar en una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales. Se realizó un análisis situacional de la unidad; luego se construyó un plan de intervenciones y, finalmente, su implementación durante el período de la pasantía. El campo de práctica proporcionó el desarrollo de conocimientos, habilidades y capacidades de los estudiantes en el campo de la neonatología. Las actividades desarrolladas por los académicos promovieron una mayor organización y agilidad para ayudar al recién nacido; recepción mejorada de padres y familiares de recién nacidos admitidos en la UCIN; implementación de una rutina para evaluar y controlar la calidad de la atención brindada en el sector y crear un espacio para el intercambio de conocimientos y prácticas entre todo el equipo de salud. Del trabajo, queda claro que la existencia de estudiantes en la unidad de salud puede actuar como un incentivo para la práctica reflexiva de los profesionales del servicio.Esse trabalho objetivo relaciona a experiência acadêmica de enfermagem no campo de estágio supervisionado, durante a prestação de cuidados intensivos neonatais, bem como as habilidades necessárias para aperfeiçoar a qualidade da assistência no setor. Trata-se de um relato de experiência vivida por acadêmicos do curso de Bacharelado em Enfermagem, durante a disciplina Estágio Curricular II, ou qual teve como cenário uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal. Foi realizada análise situacional da unidade; em seguida construiu-se um planejamento das alterações e, por fim, sua implementação durante o período do estágio. O campo de prática propiciado ou o desenvolvimento de conhecimentos, competências e habilidades dos discentes na área de neonatologia. As atividades desenvolvidas pelas acadêmicas promovem maior organização e agilidade na assistência ao neonato; melhora do acolhimento aos pais e familiares dos recém-nascidos internados na UTIN; implementação de uma rotina de avaliação e controle da qualidade da assistência prestada no setor e criação de um espaço de intercâmbio de saberes e práticas entre toda a equipe de saúde.
