Resumo: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) comes from the Papillomaviridae family and the genus Papillomavirus. It is known to be a sexually transmitted virus and not enveloped. It causes anorectal lesions such as condyloma acuminata, squamous cell carcinoma and its precursor, intraepithelial neoplasia. Anti-HPV vaccines were launched with the aim of preventing infection by the virus, thereby reducing the development of cervical neoplasms. Thus, the present work aims to describe the importance of vaccination against the HPV virus and its relationship with cervical cancer. It is a descriptive study, of the type integrative literature review, of a qualitative character since it is defined as a type of investigation focused on the qualitative aspect of a given question. For the accomplishment of this study, the databases were consulted : MEDLINE, Scholar Google and SCIELO. The Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) were used in an associated way: "Human Papillomavirus", "Cervical Cancer", "Vaccine" and "Prevention". After applying the inclusion criteria, 13 studies remained. Effective and safe HPV vaccines could be important tools for preventing cervical cancer worldwide, particularly in developing countries. The expectation is that in 10 to 20 years there may be a reduction in the incidence rates of the precursor lesions of this cancer and, gradually, a reduction in cancer, which is the second leading cause of death of women from neoplasms worldwide.

Se sabe que es un virus de transmisión sexual y no está envuelto. Causando lesiones anorrectales como condiloma acuminado, carcinoma de células escamosas y su precursor, neoplasia intraepitelial. Se lanzaron vacunas anti-VPH con el objetivo de prevenir la infección por el virus, reduciendo así el desarrollo de neoplasias cervicales. Así, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo describir la importancia de la vacunación contra el virus del VPH y su relación con el cáncer de cuello uterino. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, del tipo revisión integradora de la literatura, de carácter cualitativo ya que se define como un tipo de investigación centrada en el aspecto cualitativo de una determinada pregunta. Para la realización de este estudio se consultaron las bases de datos : MEDLINE, Scholar Google y SCIELO. Los Descriptores de Ciencias de la Salud (DeCS) se utilizaron de forma asociada: "Virus del papiloma humano", "Cáncer de cuello uterino", "Vacuna" y "Prevención". Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión, quedaron 13 estudios. Las vacunas contra el VPH eficaces y seguras podrían ser herramientas importantes para prevenir el cáncer de cuello uterino en todo el mundo, especialmente en los países en desarrollo. La expectativa es que en 10 a 20 años pueda haber una reducción en las tasas de incidencia de lesiones precursoras de este cáncer y, gradualmente, una reducción del cáncer, que es la segunda causa principal de muerte de mujeres por neoplasias en todo el mundo.O Papilomavírus Humano (HPV) é oriundo da família Papillomaviridae e ao gênero Papillomavirus. Sendo causador de lesões anorretais como condiloma acuminado, carcinoma espinocelular e seu precursor, a neoplasia intraepitelial. As vacinas anti-HPV foram lançadas com o objetivo de prevenir a infecção pelo vírus, com isso, diminuir o desenvolvimento de neoplasias cervicais. Com isso o presente trabalho tem como objetivo descrever a importância da vacinação contra o vírus HPV e sua relação com o câncer do colo do útero. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo revisão integrativa de  literatura, de caráter qualitativo uma  vez  que é definida como um tipo de investigação voltada para o aspecto qualitativo de uma determinada questão, Para a realização desse estudo, foram consultadas as bases de dados: MEDLINE, Scholar Google e SCIELO. Utilizou-se os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS) de forma associada: “Papilomavírus Humano”, “Câncer do Colo do Útero”, “Vacina” e "Prevenção". Após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão, restaram 13 estudos. As vacinas efetivas e seguras contra HPV poderiam ser importantes instrumentos de prevenção de câncer do colo do útero em todo o mundo, particularmente nos países em desenvolvimento.
