The conception of woman in Escola Doméstica de Natal’s curriculum (1914-1944)

Resumo: This paper presents a discussion about the women's conception in the curriculum of Escola Doméstica de Natal, from 1914 to 1944. It aims to identify the planned training for the female population in this institution. The adopted methodology is based in an analytical study, by making comparisons between the collected information in the school's archive, as well as in the theoretical studies. At ED we had access to the institution's archive, in which it was possible to raise sources such as documents, reports and photos. The curriculum construction was based on these documents, on the data found in the newspaper A República and through the studies of Andrea Gabriel Francelino Rodrigues (2007). In addition, the theoretical studies allowed to find speeches given by Henrique Castriciano, by the Liga de Ensino do RN (LERN) and also through the Marques Neto (2005) studies. Through the presented curriculum we realized that the concept of women education in this period was directed to home and family. The reflections allows to notice that the woman, in Escola Doméstica's conception, was conceived as the social change pillar, taking into account her position in the family. The LERN defended the same percepts in which women education should be the one where the woman would know how to guide herself in the ways of life at home or outside it. In the course of the research we realized who was that woman in the beginning of the 20th century and which were the contributions of the Escola Doméstica for the construction of this feminine ideology.

Tiene como objetivo identificar la formación pensada para el público femenino en esta institución . La metodología adoptada parte un estudio analítico, haciendo comparaciones entre las informaciones recogidas en el archivo de la escuela y los estudios teóricos. En la ED tuvimos acceso al acervo de la institución, en el cual fue posible levantar fuentes como documentos, boletines y fotos. El currículo fue construido sobre la base de esos documentos, en los datos encontrados en el diario La República ya partir de los estudios de Andrea Gabriel Francelino Rodrigues (2007). Además, los estudios teóricos permitieron encontrar discursos proferidos por Henrique Castriciano, por la Liga de Enseñanza del RN (LERN) ya partir de los estudios de Marques Neto (2015). A través del programa curricular presentado percibimos que la visión de la educación femenina en ese período estaba orientada al hogar. Las reflexiones permiten percibir que la mujer, para la Escuela Doméstica, era concebida como el pilar de los cambios sociales, teniendo en cuenta su papel en la familia. La Liga de Enseñanza del RN defendió los mismos preceptos en que la educación femenina debería ser aquella donde la mujer supiera guiarse en los caminos de la vida en el hogar o fuera de él. En el transcurso de la investigación percibimos quién era esa mujer de principios del siglo XX y cuáles las contribuciones de la Escuela Doméstica para la construcción de ese ideario femenino.O presente trabalho apresenta uma discussão sobre a concepção de mulher no modelo curricular presente na Escola Doméstica de Natal(ED), localizada em Natal/RN, no período de 1914 a 1944.  Tem como objetivo identificar a formação pensada para o público feminino nesta instituição. A metodologia adotada parte um estudo analítico, fazendo comparações entre as informações coletadas no arquivo da escola e os estudos teóricos. Na ED tivemos acesso ao acervo da instituição, no qual foi possível levantar fontes como documentos, boletins e fotos. O currículo foi construído com base nesses documentos, nos dados encontrados no jornal A República e a partir dos estudos de Andrea Gabriel Francelino Rodrigues (2007). Por meio do programa curricular apresentado percebemos que a visão de educação feminina nesse período era voltada ao lar. As reflexões permitem perceber que a mulher, para a Escola Doméstica, era concebida como o pilar das mudanças sociais, levando em consideração seu papel na família. A Liga de Ensino do RN defendeu os mesmos preceitos em que a educação feminina deveria ser aquela onde a mulher soubesse guiar-se nos caminhos da vida no lar ou fora dele.
