Thermographic mapping of lower limbs of young futsal athletes

Resumo: The aim of the present study was to perform a thermographic mapping of lower limbs in young futsal athletes. The study sample consisted of 19 young futsal athletes with a mean age of (15.8± 1.0 years), from the under-17 category. Thermographic images (thermograms) were collected using the thermography technique in the quadriceps, tibial, hamstrings and gastrocnemius muscles of athletes in both legs. The results showed similar values, with an average of 31.8°C for the right side and 31.9°C for the left side of the quadriceps musculature, 29.6°C for both sides of the tibialis, 31.5°C for the right side and 31.4°C for the left side of the hamstring muscles and 28.9°C for the right side and 28.8°C for the left side of the gastrocnemius muscles. We can conclude after the thermographic mapping that the analyzed musculature presented thermal symmetry, and that thermography is a non-invasive and reliable technique to trace a profile and detect possible muscle imbalance in athletes.

La muestra del estudio estuvo compuesta por 19 jóvenes deportistas de fútbol sala con una edad media de (15,8± 1,0 años), de la categoría sub-17. Se recolectaron imágenes termográficas (termogramas) mediante la técnica de termografía en los músculos cuádriceps, tibial, isquiotibiales y gastrocnemio de atletas en ambas piernas. Los resultados mostraron valores similares, con un promedio de 31.8°C para el lado derecho y 31.9°C para el lado izquierdo de la musculatura cuádriceps, 29.6°C para ambos lados del tibial, 31.5°C para el lado derecho y 31.4°C C para el lado izquierdo de los músculos isquiotibiales y 28,9°C para el lado derecho y 28,8°C para el lado izquierdo de los músculos gastrocnemios. Podemos concluir tras el mapeo termográfico que los músculos analizados presentaban simetría térmica, y que la termografía es una técnica no invasiva y fiable para trazar un perfil y detectar posibles desequilibrios musculares en deportistas.O objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar um mapeamento termográfico de membros inferiores em jovens atletas de futsal. A amostra do estudo foi composta por 19 jovens atletas de futsal com idade média de (15,8± 1,0 anos), da categoria sub-17. Foram realizadas coletas de imagens termográficas (termogramas) utilizando a técnica da termografia na musculatura do quadríceps, tibial, isquiotibiais e gastrocnêmio dos atletas em ambas as pernas. Os resultados apontaram valores semelhantes, com média de 31,8°C para o lado direito e 31,9°C para o lado esquerdo da musculatura do quadríceps, 29,6°C para ambos os lados dos tibiais, 31,5°C para o lado direito e 31,4°C para o lado esquerdo da musculatura dos isquiotibiais e 28,9°C para o lado direito e 28,8°C para o lado esquerdo da musculatura dos gastrocnêmios.
