Resumo: | This paper presents the results of a research that aimed to characterize the perception of students about the importance of the school training them for the high school objectives recommended by the Law of Education’s Guidelines and Bases (LDB). The research included 534 students from the cities of Juazeiro do Norte (CE), Fortaleza (CE) and São Paulo (SP), from the 3rd year of high school in public, private and vocational schools and public and private pre-university preparatory courses. The results showed that 97.9% of them considered it important that the school could prepare them to continue their studies, and when questioned about how the school prepared them for these features, the work was the point that the students felt less prepared for (75.4%). The results highlighted the importance of understanding the perception of youth about this subject, since according to them the school has not been able to fulfill its objectives. |

El estudio contó con 534 estudiantes de las ciudades de Juazeiro do Norte (ubicado en la provincia de Ceará - CE), Fortaleza (CE) y São Paulo (SP), oriundos del 3er año de la enseñanza media de escuelas públicas, privadas y profesionales, además de cursos públicos y privados preparatorios para exámenes de ingreso a las universidades. Los resultados mostraron que el 97,9% de ellos consideran importante que la escuela pueda prepararlos para que prosigan en los estudios, y, cuando preguntados sobre cómo la escuela les preparó para eso, el trabajo fue el aspecto en el que los alumnos se sintieron menos preparados (el 75,4% de ellos). Los resultados subrayaron la importancia de comprender la percepción de los jóvenes sobre ese tema, ya que, según ellos mismos, la escuela no ha conseguido cumplir todos sus objetivos.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa que objetivou caracterizar a percepção de estudantes sobre a importância de a escola os preparar para os objetivos do ensino médio preconizados pela Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (LDB). A pesquisa contou com 534 estudantes das cidades de Juazeiro do Norte (CE), Fortaleza (CE) e São Paulo (SP), oriundos do 3º ano do ensino médio de escolas públicas, privadas e profissionalizantes e de cursinhos públicos e privados. Os resultados mostraram que 97,9% deles considera importante que a escola possa prepará-los para prosseguir nos estudos, e quando questionados sobre como a escola os preparou para estes aspectos, o ponto que os alunos se sentiram menos preparados foi para o trabalho (75,4%).
