Resumo: Objective: To formulate a historical series from 2010 to 2021 of morbidity and mortality due to pathology in the state of Piauí. Methods: It is, therefore, an ecological and retrospective study, with a quantitative approach, with public domain data from the IT department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) on visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis in the state of Piauí. For data collection, the following variables were considered: sex, age, health region and race / ethnicity. Results: There were 1865 hospitalizations and 81 deaths due to Visceral Leishmaniasis, in addition to 308 hospitalizations and 07 deaths due to Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in the state, in the period from 2010 to 2020. After analysis, it was found that hospitalizations and deaths due to leishmaniasis in Entre Rios were spare parts, being more frequent at the beginning and end of life, especially in belonging to the male sex and browns. In this study, aspects related to the etiology, prophylaxis, therapy and control of the disease are discussed, as well as the factors that hinder the implementation of interventionist measures. Final considerations: It was concluded that it is necessary to establish public policies to combat fundamental diseases, applying them to envision the systematization of health services, the promotion of health education, as well as vector control, given the rates of involvement and the hospital expenses generated for hospitalizations.
