In the execution of vertical external coatings, a large generation of waste and debris is observed scattered throughout the construction site. In the execution of this stage, it is difficult to have supervision and management of the process, causing waste of materials and increasing the cost of the work. Thus, the present work consists of quantifying and analyzing the losses generated during the execution of the external coating in vertical works in the city of Juazeiro do Norte/CE, seeking to quantify through indicators the losses during the service, also verifying the way employees work and propose solutions. Periodic visits were made in 3 construction sites, gathering the mortar data produced in the mortar plant and lost after the service, checking the thicknesses of the coating layers and collecting the wasted material that generates the debris of the service. The theoretical value for the single mass layers was calculated, indicating the loss rate. The results show high rates of losses and debris generated, especially in Work B, motivated by the use of traditional methods. There was no chapiscos in one of the works, plumb error in another work and in the third, greater rigor was adopted, implying lower rates of waste. Thus, with greater control in the execution of masonry and coatings tend to reduce the generation of mortar residues.
