Health behavior and nutritional profile of hypertensive elderly

Summary: Objective: evaluate the health behavior and nutritional profile of hypertensive elderly enrolled in the Hiperdia program. Method: cross-sectional study conducted with 60 hypertensive elderly. Data were collected through interviews and anthropometric evaluation. For the interview, a semi-structured form was used that included sociodemographic variables related to health behavior between November and December 2017. Results: reporting to eating habits, the most consumed food was mass.  The rate of alcohol consumption and smoking was low (8.3% and 13.3%) Respectively. Regarding body mass index, 53.0% of the elderly were eutrophic, however, there was a prevalence of abdominal obesity, with a high risk for cardiovascular diseases in females (48.3%). Conclusion: the evaluation of health behavior and nutritional status of hypertensive elderly is crucial for the prevention of complications and comorbidities.

Método: estudio transversal realizado con 60 ancianos hipertensos. Los datos se recopilaron a través de entrevistas y evaluación antropométrica. Para la entrevista, se utilizó un formulario semiestructurado que incluía variables sociodemográficas relacionadas con el comportamiento de salud entre noviembre y diciembre de 2017. Resultados: reportar hábitos alimenticios, el alimento más consumido fue la masa. La tasa de consumo de alcohol y tabaquismo fue baja (8,3% y 13,3%) Respectivamente. En cuanto al índice de masa corporal, el 53,0% de los ancianos eran eutróficos, sin embargo, había una prevalencia de obesidad abdominal, con un alto riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares en las mujeres (48,3%). Conclusión: la evaluación del comportamiento de salud y el estado nutricional de los ancianos hipertensos es crucial para la prevención de complicaciones y comorbilidades.Objetivo: avaliar o comportamento em saúde e o perfil nutricional de idosos hipertensos cadastrados no programa Hiperdia. Método: estudo transversal, realizado com 60 idosos hipertensos. Realizou-se a coleta de dados por meio de entrevista e avaliação antropométrica. Para a entrevista foi utilizado formulário semi-estruturado que englobou variáveis sociodemográficas e relacionadas ao comportamento em saúde entre o período de novembro e dezembro de 2017. Resultados: reportando-se aos hábitos alimentares, o alimento mais consumido foi a massa.  O índice de etilismo e tabagismo foi baixo (8,3% e 13,3%) respectivamente. Em relação ao índice de massa corporal 53,0% dos idosos se apresentaram eutróficos, contudo, houve prevalência de obesidade abdominal, com risco elevado para doenças cardiovasculares no sexo feminino, (48,3%).
