Productive structure of family farming in Maranhão: comparison between the 2006 and 2017 agricultural censuses

Resumo: This work sought to analyze and compare the production and activities of family farming, based on the results of the last two agricultural censuses (2006 and 2017). In the methodological procedures, bibliographic research and document analysis were used. Among the results, it is postulated that family farming in the state of Maranhão is marked by temporary crops with emphasis on cassava. The data from the Census of Agriculture point to a low participation of family farming in agricultural production. The justification is that most of the production units have low technological standards and use production for their own subsistence.

En los procedimientos metodológicos se utilizó la investigación bibliográfica y el análisis de documentos. Entre los resultados, se postula que la agricultura familiar en el estado de Maranhão está marcada por cultivos temporales con énfasis en la yuca. Los datos del Censo Agropecuario apuntan a una baja participación de la agricultura familiar en la producción agrícola. La justificación es que la mayoría de las unidades de producción tienen bajos estándares tecnológicos y utilizan la producción para su propia subsistencia.Este trabalho buscou analisar e comparar a produção e as atividades da agricultura familiar, a partir dos resultados dos dois últimos censos agropecuários (2006 e 2017). Nos procedimentos metodológicos utilizou-se de pesquisa bibliográfica e da análise documental. Entre os resultados, postula-se que a agricultura familiar no estado do Maranhão é marcada por culturas temporárias com destaque para a mandioca. Os dados dos Censos Agropecuários apontam para baixa participação da agricultura familiar na produção agrícola.
