The role of nurses as health educator so patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2: Integrative review

Resumo: Objetive: To identify and analyze the scientific productions available in the literature on educational actions in health, promoted by nurses to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: is an Integrative Review, conducted from January to March 2022 including scientific articles, selected and published from 2018 to 2022, in Portuguese, English and Spanish in the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO), and the Nursing Database (BDENF). Results: We included 4 articles between 2018 and 2020, all of which were published and carried out in Brazil. Regarding the types of studies, each author used a methodology being these intervention studies, exploratory and descriptive study, descriptive study, and randomized clinical trial. With emphasis on health education provided by nurses to patients with type 2 DM; to show which educational measures were elucidated to the patients; and what benefits are provided with health education. Conclusion: The study made it possible to identify the importance of nurses participation as educators, and gaps in education in health education, and evidenced the impact of work overload for the development of educational activities.

Método: Se trata de una Revisión Integradora, realizada de enero a marzo de 2022 que incluye artículos científicos, seleccionados y publicados de 2018 a 2022, en portugués, inglés y español en las bases de datos de Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), Biblioteca Electrónica Científica (SciELO) y la Base de Datos de Enfermería (BDENF). Resultados: Se incluyeron 4 artículos entre 2018 y 2020, todos los cuales fueron publicados y realizados en Brasil. En cuanto a los tipos de estudios, cada autor utilizó una metodología que son estos estudios de intervención, estudio exploratorio y descriptivo, estudio descriptivo y ensayo clínico aleatorizado. Con énfasis en la educación para la salud proporcionada por las enfermeras a los pacientes con DM tipo 2; mostrar qué medidas educativas se dilucidaron a los pacientes; y qué beneficios se proporcionan con la educación para la salud. Conclusión: El estudio permitió identificar la importancia de la participación de las enfermeras como educadoras, las brechas en la educación para la salud, y evidenció el impacto de la sobrecarga de trabajo para el desarrollo de las actividades educativas.Objetivo: Identificar e analisar as produções científicas disponíveis na literatura sobre as ações educativas em saúde, promovidas pelo enfermeiro ao portador de diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Método: Trata-se de uma Revisão Integrativa, realizada de janeiro a março de 2022 incluindo artigos científicos, selecionados e publicados de 2018 a 2022, em português, inglês e espanhol nas bases da Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO), e no Banco de Dados de Enfermagem (BDENF). Resultados: Foram incluídos 4 artigos entre os anos de 2018 a 2020, sendo todos publicados e realizados no Brasil. Referente aos tipos de estudos, cada autor utilizou uma metodologia sendo estes estudos de intervenção, estudo exploratório e descritivo, estudo descritivo e ensaio clínico randomizado. Com ênfase na educação em saúde fornecida pelos enfermeiros aos pacientes portadores de DM tipo 2; demostrar quais foram essas medidas educativas elucidadas aos pacientes; e quais os benefícios proporcionados com a educação em saúde.
