Resumo: Using the press as a source of research, we sought to analyze part of the dynamics of the political debates of PortoAlegre in the Regency period, from the publications of O Continentino and O Recopilador Liberal. Each newspaperdefended and discussed the political projects proposed by the groups of moderados, exaltados and caramurusin the recent press in Rio Grande do Sul, which projects were already publicized and defended by the press in allof Brazil in much larger proportions.
