Influences of the Third Regency of Spain on public opinion: Funding to the Procurador General de la Nación y del Rey during the Cadiz Cortes

Resumo: During the period of the French occupation in Spain, various political forces sought to fill the power vacuum caused by Napoleon Bonaparte's capture of the legitimate monarch, Ferdinand VII. Projects were discussed and presented in new spaces, created from the crisis of the Old Regime. In consequence, counterrevolutionary groups also made use of the new tools created by advocates of political innovation. The purpose of this paper is to analyze how the clash between the Spanish Third Regency and the Cadiz Cortes influenced the publications of the servil periodical El Procurador General. This periodical received funding from the Third Regency during part of its publications and the purpose of this text is to point out the situations in which this link was possibly most evident.

Como resultado, los grupos contrarrevolucionarios también han utilizado las nuevas herramientas creadas por los defensores de la innovación política. El propósito de este artículo es analizar cómo el choque entre la Tercera Regencia de España y las Cortes de Cádiz influyó en las publicaciones del periódico servil El Procurador General. Este periódico recibió fondos de la Tercera Regencia durante parte de sus publicaciones y el propósito de este texto es señalar las situaciones en las que, posiblemente, este vínculo fue más evidente.Durante o período da ocupação francesa na Espanha, diversas forças políticas buscaram ocupar o vazio de poder ocasionado pela captura do legítimo monarca, Fernando VII, por Napoleão Bonaparte. Projetos eram discutidos e apresentados em novos espaços, criados a partir da crise do Antigo Regime. Em consequência, grupos contrarrevolucionários também fizeram uso das novas ferramentas criadas pelos defensores da inovação política. A proposta do presente artigo é analisar como o embate entre a Terceira Regência da Espanha e as Cortes de Cádis influenciaram as publicações do periódico servil El Procurador General.
