EMERGENCE AND INTERIORIZING DEGREES IN GEOGRAPHY IN THE FEDERAL INSTITUTES OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Resumo: | The Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs) emerged with the reorganization of the Federal Network of Vocational and Technological Education in Brazil in 2008. They have an obligation to have 20% of their admissions available for teacher training. One of the intended aspects is the internalization of degree courses, helping to eliminate the national shortage in this area. Therefore, this work raised the scenario of degrees in Geography in Brazilian IFs, understanding the dynamics of interiorization of higher education, the emergence of courses and their motivations. The methodology adopted was the collection of data through a bibliographic review, on the websites of the institutions and in the pedagogical projects of courses (PPCs), with a period ending in 2020. Tables of emergence, justifications and a mapping were prepared through free software QGIS. It is concluded that the degrees in Geography in the IFs remained mostly in the range of traditional occupation of the territory, especially in the Northeast and Southeast regions. The states of Pará and Rondônia are the main points of regional interiorization. With the exception of the Federal District, the Center-West did not have the course in question in the IFs, accompanied by the South region. From the state perspective, Rondônia and Ceará are the ones that show the greatest spatial distribution of the courses. It is also verified that the degree in Geography in the IFs is a recent event, mostly manifested in the last phase of the expansion of the institutions, having as central arguments the lack of qualified professionals in the regions covered by the different units, the shortage of teachers in the Brazil and behaving as a complementarity. |

Possuem a obrigação em dispor de 20% de suas vagas para a formação de professores. Um dos aspectos intencionados é a interiorização de cursos de licenciaturas, auxiliando a supressão da carência nacional neste âmbito. Assim sendo, este trabalho levantou o cenário das licenciaturas em Geografia nos IFs brasileiros, compreendendo a dinâmica de interiorização do ensino superior, o surgimentos dos cursos e suas motivações. Adotou-se como metodologia o levantamento de dados através de revisão bibliográfica, nos sítios eletrônicos das autarquias e nos projetos pedagógicos de cursos (PPCs), com período terminando em 2020. Elaboraram-se quadros de surgimentos, justificativas e um mapeamento através do software livre QGIS. Conclui-se que as licenciaturas em Geografia nos IFs se mantiveram majoritariamente na faixa de ocupação tradicional do território, sobretudo nas regiões Nordeste e Sudeste. Como principais pontos de interiorização regional, encontram-se os estados do Pará e Rondônia. Com exceção do Distrito Federal, o Centro-Oeste não possuía nos IFs o curso em questão, acompanhado da região Sul. Na perspectiva estadual, Rondônia e o Ceará são os que demonstram maior distribuição espacial dos cursos.
