TEACHING SPANISH IN BORDER MUNICIPALITIES BETWEEN BRAZIL AND ARGENTINA BILINGUAL INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION

Resumo: This article is the clipping of a master’s dissertation that researched the offer of Spanish language teaching in state schools in Paraná, after the repeal of Law 11.161/2005, with a main focus on municipal and state schools in the municipalities bordering Argentina. The research is based on studies by Ferrari (2011) Krause-Lemke (2010), Sturza (2006). Characterized as multimetodologic (CRESWELL and CLARK, 2007), it aimed to analyze whether in the state/municipal schools of border line between Paraná and Argentina, there is in fact, the implementation of the teaching of the Spanish language. To this end, research was carried out within the education departments of the border municipalities and also with the Paraná Department of Education (SEED). With the study we also demonstrated the space that the Spanish language occupies within the educational institutions of Paraná, after the repeal of Law 11.161. The results of this study showed a decline in relation to the offer of Spanish within the Celems of state schools in Paraná in the last five years. With regard to schools in border municipalities, the English language overlaps with Spanish to be taught on the grounds of its hegemony. We concluded that in border regions, the learning of the Spanish language would be essential, since our students have direct contact with the said language, but are subject to the learning of it, due to the implementation of restrictive educational policies.

A pesquisa se apoia em estudos de Ferrari (2011) Krause-Lemke (2010), Sturza (2006). Caracterizada como multimetodológica (CRESWELL; CLARK, 2007), teve como objetivo analisar se, nas escolas estaduais/municipais de linha de fronteira entre Paraná e Argentina, há, de fato, a implementação do ensino da língua espanhola. Para tanto, foram realizadas pesquisas dentro das Secretarias de Educação dos municípios de linha de fronteira e junto à Secretaria de Educação do Paraná (Seed). Com o estudo também demonstramos qual o espaço que a língua espanhola ocupa dentro das instituições de ensino paranaenses, após a revogação da Lei 11.161. Os resultados deste trabalho apontaram um declínio na oferta do espanhol dentro dos CELEMs das escolas estaduais paranaenses nos últimos cinco anos. Com relação às escolas dos municípios de linha de fronteira, a língua inglesa sobrepõe a espanhola, para ser ensinada sob a justificativa de sua hegemonia.
