SCALES FOR IDENTIFYING GIFTEDNESS IN BRAZIL: CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Resumo: | The identification of giftedness (AD/SD) is a challenging process that traditionally starts with the use of screening instruments. Seeking to understand the quality of these materials used, a critical review of the psychometric qualities of the scales found was carried out. This review was done after consulting the Scielo, Pepsic, Google Scholar and Periódicos Capes databases. Seventeen scales were identified, with four adaptations and 13 developed nationally. As for the evaluated dimensions, it is noted that they reflect a multidimensional definition adopted by the Ministry of Education. Despite this, there are a limited number of studies investigating evidence of validity and accuracy, with more studies focusing on its content. In view of the findings, it is possible to state that the instruments used nationally lack refinement studies, to guarantee the adequate use of the results. It is suggested that future studies be carried out to expand the databases, including dissertations and theses. |

Buscando comprender la calidad de estos materiales utilizados, se realizó una revisión crítica de las cualidades psicométricas de las escalas encontradas tras consultar las bases de datos Scielo, Pepsic, Google Scholar y Periódicos Capes. Se identificaron diecisiete escalas, con cuatro adaptaciones y 13 desarrolladas a nivel nacional. En cuanto a las dimensiones evaluadas, se observa que contemplan una definición multidimensional adoptada por el Ministerio de Educación, sin embargo, faltan estudios dirigidos a investigar evidencias de validez y exactitud, siendo más común la investigación de su contenido. En vista de los hallazgos, es posible afirmar que los instrumentos utilizados a nivel nacional carecen de estudios de perfeccionamiento, a fin de garantizar el aprovechamiento adecuado de los resultados. Se sugiere realizar futuros estudios para ampliar las bases de datos, incluyendo disertaciones y tesis.A identificação das altas habilidades/superdotação (AD/SD) é um processo desafiador que, tradicionalmente, se inicia pelo emprego de instrumentos de rastreio. Buscando compreender a qualidade destes materiais utilizados, foi realizada uma revisão crítica das qualidades psicométricas das escalas encontradas após consulta a base de dados Scielo, Pepsic, Google Acadêmico e Periódicos Capes. Dezessete escalas foram identificadas, sendo quatro adaptações e 13 desenvolvidas nacionalmente. Quanto às dimensões avaliadas, nota-se que contemplam uma definição multidimensional adotada pelo Ministério da Educação, entretanto carente de estudos voltados à investigação das evidências de validade e precisão, sendo mais comum a investigação de seu conteúdo. Diante dos achados é possível afirmar que os instrumentos utilizados nacionalmente carecem de estudos de refinamento, a fim de garantir o uso adequado dos resultados.
