Resumo: | This teaching case aims to bring to students a reflection about the opt-out phenomenon that can occur in women’s career, mainly after maternity. This article presents the difficulties and challenges faced by executive women related to career and maternity. This teaching case present the true story of Gabriela, that have abandoned her executive career on behalf of the care of her small children, approaching the difficulties and challenges before and after the maternity, the choice of opt-out phenomenon and new possibilities of career. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews of life history with the former executive. Teaching notes provide recommendations for questions to be discussed in the classroom. This teaching case was development to the disciplines of people management and diversity management for graduation and post-graduation courses of management. |

Apresenta-se também as dificuldades e desafios enfrentados pelas mulheres executivas relacionadas à carreira e maternidade. O caso para ensino aborda a história real de Gabriela, que abandonou a carreira de executiva em prol do cuidado dos filhos pequenos, trazendo a sua trajetória pessoal e profissional antes e após a maternidade, a escolha pelo fenômeno opt-out e as novas possibilidades de carreira. As situações relatadas são reais e foram obtidas através de entrevistas em profundidade de história de vida com a ex-executiva. As notas de ensino trazem recomendações de questões a serem discutidas em sala de aula.
