Power and political relations at university: Memory and social representations of rectors

Resumo: The main objective of this article is to analyze memories and social representations of women who were rectors of state public universities in Bahia on the relations of power, gender and politics, especially in the context of elections for rectors of these universities. Using the qualitative methodology, with bibliographic and field research, through semi-structured interviews and observation, the data were collected and analyzed in light of theories of collective memory, social representations and content analysis. The results of this study reveal that relations of power and politics in the university follow the logic of national politics, which, whether visible or not, still have gender and patriarchy implications within the university.

A partir da metodologia qualitativa, com pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo, mediante entrevistas semiestruturadas e observação, os dados foram coletados e analisados à luz das teorias de memória coletiva, representações sociais e análise de conteúdo.
