The article intends to disseminate the results of studies that have been developed by the research group architecture and place / GRUPAL.UFCG in favor of the documental recovery of the architecture produced in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, northeastern Brazil - during the cutting of modernity, encompassing the period from the 50s to the 80s of the 20th centuries. It is justified to bring such results to light, as it is a way to contribute to the preservation of local, regional, and national architectural heritage - in a scenario dominated by a Brazilian heritage crisis, which presents a difficult situation, with the lack of a preservation policy in all levels, and that should encourage research, technical training, architectural preservation throughout its documentary framework and the work itself. Documenting, without a doubt, is the first step in the work of heritage preservation. Gathering information through architectural surveys, tools such as redesign, virtual reconstruction, allows these buildings to be rescued, analyzed, documented, and demonstrating their architectural attributes, their design, constructive, spatial, and sociocultural values. Since May 2015, the group has been working, gathering information regarding the modern architectural production of Campinas. Over these years, there were more than fifteen architectural research, which resulted in inventories, records, and analyses, in addition to articles published in scientific events and periodicals, in the completion of monographs of course completion papers, in master’s dissertation projects. To rescue the modern Campinas collection, making society aware of the importance of preserving it, is our goal, placing it in the list of real estate assets of cultural value for the city and its citizens.
