Resumo: This paper aims to better understand the fish production chain sold at a fair of live fish held annually in the city of Palmeiras das Missões / RS. For meeting this goal, a semi-structured interview with the participants of the fair was made with emphasis on the characterization of three aspects: the fish producer, activity and marketing. The results indicated that the fish farming is an alternative activity for most of the market traders in Palmeira das Missões. The fair is the ideal place to sell a large volume of production in a short time. This activity has the possibility of developing itself to a bigger professionalization in the fishing farm, slaughter and commercialization with the integration of producers and and government agencies.

Para atender a este objetivo, foi feita uma entrevista semi-estuturada com os participantes da feira, com ênfase na caracterização de três aspectos: do produtor; da atividade e da comercialização. Os resultados indicaram que a piscicultura é uma atividade alternativa para a maioria dos feirantes de Palmeira das Missões, sendo a feira o local ideal para se vender um grande volume de produção em um curto período de tempo.
