Resumo: Considering the processes of migration, expatriation, global mobility of people, academic and professional exchanges, skilled labor between countries, among others, the development of intercultural competence is one of the contemporary challenges that are configured in new forms of experience and identification of themselves and others in the field of work. This article aims to present a proposal for a quali-quantitative instrument for assessing intercultural competence, which can be used as a diagnostic instrument (for example, applied before the start of training activities for this competence – to assess its initial stage ) and also for monitoring and evaluating the level of development of intercultural competence on an ongoing basis, or after a training activity. The instrument was initially developed based on a literature review on the theme of intercultural competence, based on its attributes; being applied in the context of a research in the format of a virtual intercultural exchange in the virtual world Second Life® between Brazilian and Portuguese students.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a proposição de um instrumento quali-quantitativo para avaliação da competência intercultural, que pode ser empregada como um instrumento diagnóstico (por exemplo, aplicado antes do início de atividades de formação dessa competência – para avaliar o seu estágio inicial) e também para acompanhamento e avaliação do nível de desenvolvimento da competência intercultural de forma contínua, ou após uma atividade de capacitação.
