Resumo: | Introduction: The National Policy for the Elderly provides the inclusion of Gerontology and Geriatrics as curricular subjects in higher education.Objective: To know how is the teaching about the human aging process in the courses of Physical Education in higher level.Method: Cross-sectional study with 7 individuals of both sexes representing the higher education institutions (HEI) that have participated of a local event called Fórum Gaúcho das Instituições de Ensino Superior com Ações Voltadas ao Envelhecimento in the year of 2016. The protocol was a questionnaire with closed and open questions.Results: Four HEI offer the subject called Physical Education and Human Aging in the curriculum of the Bachelor, but none offers this subject in the curriculum for the teaching of Physical Education at scholar level. At the other three HEI, the theme is discussed in other disciplines that includes topics related to special public. The subject was included in the curricula between the years of 2009 and 2013 and has a workload of 60 hours per semester, divided into 4 credits, being located in the curriculum between the fifth and the eight semester.Conclusion: The offer of the subject Physical Education and Human Aging is still not a consensus as mandatory in the undergraduate courses of Physical Education in the south of Brazil. |

The subject was included in the curricula between the years of 2009 and 2013 and has a workload of 60 hours per semester, divided into 4 credits, being located in the curriculum between the fifth and the eight semester.Conclusion: The offer of the subject Physical Education and Human Aging is still not a consensus as mandatory in the undergraduate courses of Physical Education in the south of Brazil.Introdução: A Política Nacional do Idoso, entre suas competências, prevê adequar o currículo, incluindo a Gerontologia e a Geriatria como disciplinas curriculares nos cursos superiores.Objetivo: Conhecer como se dá o ensino sobre o processo de Envelhecimento Humano nos cursos de Graduação de Educação Física de Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES).Materiais e métodos: Estudo transversal composto por 7 indivíduos de ambos os sexos, representantes das IES participantes do Fórum Gaúcho das Instituições de Ensino Superior com Ações Voltadas ao Envelhecimento em 2016. O instrumento utilizado foi um questionário composto por perguntas fechadas e abertas. Resultados: Quatro IES oferecem a disciplina de Educação Física e Envelhecimento Humano no currículo do Bacharelado, mas nenhuma oferece no currículo da Licenciatura. Nas outras três IES, o assunto é abordado em outras disciplinas, com o tema voltado a públicos especiais. A disciplina foi incluída nos currículos entre os anos de 2009 e 2013.
