Resumo: The increasing Spanish speaker’s demand for Portuguese learning opportunities contextualizes the discussion of the teaching material I will be describing in this paper. The teaching material was developed for Portuguese learning in academic settings. I introduce the paper by commenting some of the Portuguese learning opportunities in Latin America held by the Brazilian Govermment, such as RedeBrasileira de Ensino no Exterior and Brazilian’s Lectorship in Latin American Universities, Celpe-Bras exam and Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA). Then, I discuss the theoretical and methodological framework from which the material is based by taking into account some of the research fidings on Portuguese teaching to Spanish speakers. Later, the task-based language teaching approach will also be discussed to support the didatic proposal. Finally, I describe the general organization of five teaching units. Then, I exemplify one of the units by justifying the decisions made during its elaboration. Althought the discution is specific to one teaching material, the paper aims to contribute to the debate on particularities of Portuguese teaching to Spanish speakers.

No presente trabalho, apresento a fundamentação teórico-metodológica que subjaz a elaboração de cinco unidades didáticas propostas para o público de universitários falantes de espanhol como língua materna. Inicialmente, faço uma análise de estudos e propostas que trataram da especificidade do ensino de português para falantes de línguas próximas. Em seguida, discuto os princípios metodológicos, bem como as características do ensino de línguas baseado em tarefas para, ao final, descrever, exemplificar e justificar as decisões tomadas durante a elaboração das unidades didáticas.
