Resumo: The paper presents the results of an exploratory research on reading and writing practices in undergraduate courses of the Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana (UNILA). From the questionnaireanalysis, we found out that reading and writing practices are closely related to the technical and scientific genres and to the pedagogical goals of disciplines. We hope that the research results may provide support not only for the planning of additional language courses, but also for the development of institutional policies to support the development of skills on academic reading and writing in Spanish and Portuguese.
