Limits and possibilities of the use of the Mathematics textbook in the teaching and learning process

Resumo: | The present work discusses the use of the textbook of Mathematics in the process of teaching and learning. The objective of this study is to analyze and discuss the common ways in which mathematics teachers adopt and use the didactic book, in the course of developing their pedagogical practices. A bibliographic methodology was used, based on scientific articles, books, doctoral dissertations and master's dissertations. In the midst of many discussions that revolve around the use of the Mathematics textbook, we sought in this work to investigate the ways, limits and possibilities of its use, considering that it is considered as complementary didactic resource for pedagogical practices. However, the result is summarized only in the unique and exclusive use of the textbook, in most Brazilian state public schools, as the main didactic resource used throughout the teaching and learning process of Mathematics. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar e discutir as maneiras corriqueiras das quais professores de Matemática adotam e utilizam o livro didático, ao longo do desenvolvimento de suas práticas pedagógicas. Utilizou-se uma metodologia bibliográfica, com base em artigos científicos, livros, teses de doutorado e dissertações de mestrado. Em meio a muitas discussões que giram em torno do uso do livro didático de Matemática, procurou-se, neste trabalho, investigar quais as maneiras, limites e possibilidades de sua utilização, tendo em vista que ele é considerado como recurso didático complementar para as práticas pedagógicas. Entretanto, o resultado obtido se resume apenas no uso único e exclusivo do livro didático, na maioria das escolas públicas estaduais brasileiras, tendo-o como principal recurso didático utilizado ao longo dos processos de ensino e de aprendizagem da Matemática.
