The present paper presents reflexions on a research process made with the colaborationof two quilombola communities of the Jalapão region (Central Brazil), Prata andMumbuca. Both are golden grass handifraft artisan communities, a traditional technicwhere golden grass scapes ares swen with buriti palm fibers. Even though the inicialgoal was the association of scientific and local knowledge, the research process broughtabout paths to exercise knowledge dialogue between both perspectives. Hence, theartisans perceptions were suveyed through qualitative research instruments, apllied withthe communities’s collaboration and participation. Among the data, quests about thespecies emerged. These were associated with the current scientific knowledge on thespecies and, also, inspired new projects on the species biology. At the end of the project,considering that the artisans shared their pesrpectives on the species, we brought themburiti palm and golden grass slades on the microscope, so they could observe the plantson our perspective. Finally, we experienced the development of a field methodologyaligned with dialogic processes between local and scientific perspectives on nature.
