ENVIRONMENTAL PERCEPTION OLD PEIRÓPOLIS RESIDENTS, UBERABA, MG: REFLECTIONS RELEVANT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Resumo: | Especially due to the impacts of agricultural and livestock activities in the Cerradoregions are important studies related to Human Ecology. On these studies, we believeare necessary not only raising sustainable behaviors and activities, as well as theobservation of aspects of human subjectivity. The Peirópolis-MG neighborhood isfrequented due to environmental tourist attractions and paleontological. Older residentsof the neighborhood were using available resources of flora as medicines and food,especially in the manufacture of homemade candy. Even today Peirópolis candy areknown and sold, but the ingredients are not produced locally. This study aimed to identify perceptions about changes in the environment and society arising from theneighborhood urbanization process. Prior visits were carried out to know the place andthe people. From this it selected a group of six women, because they are old residents ofthe neighborhood and because he has or had activities related to the use of naturalresources. The interviews revealed the importance attributed to intensive agriculture as afactor responsible for changes in the neighborhood in recent years, evaluated negatively.The urbanization resulting from tourist activities was assessed as positive or negativeimpact on the community. |

Sobreesses estudos, acreditamos serem necessários não apenas o levantamento decomportamentos e atividades sustentáveis, como também a observação de aspectos dasubjetividade humana. O bairro de Peirópolis-MG é frequentado devido a atrativosturísticos ambientais e paleontológicos. Moradores mais antigos do bairro utilizavamrecursos disponíveis da flora como medicamentos e alimentos, especialmente nafabricação de doces. Ainda hoje os doces de Peirópolis são conhecidos ecomercializados, mas os ingredientes não são mais produzidos no local. Esse trabalhoteve como objetivos identificar percepções a respeito de mudanças no ambiente esociedade decorrentes do processo de urbanização do bairro. Foram realizadas visitasprévias para conhecer o local e os moradores. A partir disso foi selecionado um grupode seis mulheres, por serem antigas moradoras do bairro e porque tem ou tiveramatividades relacionadas à utilização de recursos naturais. As entrevistas revelaram aimportância atribuída à agricultura intensiva como elemento responsável por mudançasocorridas no bairro nos últimos anos, avaliadas de forma negativa.
