Geography and environmental education: a contribution to the company in via de possible changes

Resumo: | Modern society is consumerism, but not oblivious to the changes arising from globalization and the its impact on the environment. This fact has aroused society for a possible transition process, making them more aware of their role in the community. This implies a change in attitude and behavior that can be gained with the inclusion of environmental education in schools and the daily life of the population. What sparked this interest in this work is to analyze the importance and the contribution of education in the understanding of the dynamic nature and society and their responsibility in the face of current environmental problems. The methodological procedure used was bibliographical research. In this sense, environmental education should be implemented as an integrated educational process and the discipline of geography would be an essential tool to guide future actions regarding the environment and its maintenance. This should be planned in aan operation form, targeting new opportunities for sustainable development. Fromthe study we can infer that the Geography and Environmental Education are only possibilities of success and failure, but always leaving their contribution to the construction of knowledge and subsequent planning, toward a new social and environmental ethics. |

Fato este que despertou a sociedade para um possível processo de transição, tornando-a mais consciente de seu papel na coletividade. Isso implica mudança de atitude e de comportamento que podem ser adquiridas com a inserção da Educação Ambiental nas escolas e no cotidiano da população. O que despertou o interesse por este trabalho que tem como objetivo analisar a importância e contribuição da Educação na compreensão da dinâmica sociedade e naturezae sua responsabilidade diante dos atuais problemas ambientais. O procedimento metodológico se deu por pesquisa bibliográfi ca. Neste sentido a Educação Ambiental deve ser implantada como processo educativo e integrada a disciplina de Geografi a que seria um instrumento fundamental para orientar as ações futuras a respeito do Meio Ambiente e sua manutenção. Este deverá ser planejado de forma operacional, almejando novas oportunidades de desenvolvimento sustentável.
