Environmental diagnosis of the Ribeirão Bouradinho basin, in the Triângulo Mineiro, through adaptation and application of the Leopold Matrix

Resumo: This text presents results of research aimed at assessing the environmental situation of the Ribeirão Douradinho basin, in the Triangulo Mineiro, carried out through bibliographic surveys, fieldwork and application of the Leopold Matrix, adapted with emphasis on actions that generate impacts on related environmental aspects hydrological behavior. The Leopold Matrix, developed as a qualitative method for the assessment of environmental impact, was applied through interactive analysis between the impacting actions (lines of the matrix) and the environmental aspects (columns of the matrix) through the following parameters: relevance, magnitude, scale, duration and reversibility. It is noteworthy that in the studied site the environmental impacts are due to several types of actions, representative in relation to the scenario of the Triângulo Mineiro region. Buildings, road traffic, cattle raising and the suppression of vegetation for various purposes stand out as the main activities developed in the basin, which generate impacts. The results showed that more than half of the points analyzed through the application of the matrix present high values, representing a highly impacted area. The values obtained here indicate that there is a need for better management of the natural resources of the Ribeirão Douradinho basin.

The values obtained here indicate that there is a need for better management of the natural resources of the Ribeirão Douradinho basin.Este texto presenta resultados de una investigación orientada a evaluar la situación ambiental de la cuenca del Ribeirão Douradinho, en el Triângulo Mineiro, realizada mediante levantamientos bibliográficos, trabajo de campo y aplicación de la Matriz de Leopold, adaptada con énfasis en acciones que generan impactos en aspectos ambientales relacionados comportamiento hidrológico. La Matriz de Leopold, desarrollada como un método cualitativo para la evaluación de impacto ambiental, se aplicó mediante un análisis interactivo entre las acciones impactantes (líneas de la matriz) y los aspectos ambientales (columnas de la matriz) a través de los siguientes parámetros: relevancia, magnitud, escala, duración y reversibilidad. Cabe destacar que en el sitio estudiado los impactos ambientales se deben a varios tipos de acciones, representativas en relación al escenario de la región del Triângulo Mineiro. Las edificaciones, el tráfico rodado, la ganadería y la supresión de vegetación para diversos fines se destacan como las principales actividades desarrolladas en la cuenca, que generan impactos. Los resultados mostraron que más de la mitad de los puntos analizados mediante la aplicación de la matriz presentan valores altos, representando un área altamente impactada. Los valores obtenidos aquí indican que existe la necesidad de una mejor gestión de los recursos naturales de la cuenca del Ribeirão Douradinho.Esse texto apresenta resultados de pesquisa destinada à avaliação da situação ambiental da bacia do Ribeirão Douradinho, no Triângulo Mineiro, realizada através de levantamentos bibliográficos, trabalhos de campo e aplicação da Matriz de Leopold, adaptada com ênfase em ações geradoras de impactos sobre aspectos ambientais relacionados ao comportamento hidrológico. A Matriz de Leopold, desenvolvida como um método qualitativo para a avaliação de impacto ambiental, foi aplicada mediante análise interativa entre as ações impactantes (linhas da matriz) e os aspectos ambientais (colunas da matriz) por meio dos seguintes parâmetros: relevância, magnitude, escala, duração e reversibilidade. Ressalta-se que no local estudado os impactos ambientais são decorrentes de diversas modalidades de ações, representativas em relação ao cenário da região do Triângulo Mineiro. As construções, o tráfego rodoviário, a criação de gado e a supressão da vegetação para vários fins destacam-se como as principais atividades desenvolvidas na bacia, geradoras de impactos. Os resultados apontaram que mais da metade dos pontos analisados através da aplicação da matriz apresentam valores elevados, configurando-se como área altamente impactada.
