Nowadays any individual citizen or not, is able to understand the social, economic, political and environmental of the city in modern society. Not without any reason this happens, since it is the materialization of the phenomenon of urbanization, considering not only the process but the way of life, which often goes beyond the city limits. The world population at the end of the twentieth century came from predominantly rural to urban, considering of course the uneven distribution of population by land area, and in some localities there is a predominance of rural population and others in the city. However, it is undeniable that urbanization has transformed the natural spaces in built spaces that do not always reflect the real environmental improvements. In this sense this paper has as purpose to discuss urban planning in the city of Montes Claros, regarding to the urban drainage. The methodological procedure followed in making a record of plans and programs developed for the municipality, as well as literature on urban drainage, and pictorial record of the area based on the study. The rationale is to contribute in the same discussion about the planning, and its approach to urban drainage And yet what can assist the municipal government in the adoption of mitigation measures in order to remedy the notorious problems from the rain and its consequences on the environment and to quality of life of people immediately affected.
