Trajectory course of Geography at the State University of Montes Claros-MG: commitment to teacher training

Resumo: The quality of basic and higher education of a country is directly linked to teacher training. Specifically in graduate courses in geography, it is essential that the academic holds sound knowledge about the Geographic Science has teaching, ethics, skills and expertise to develop activities in a pedagogically appropriate way to demand that enters the labor market. In this sense this study is to present an overview of the course of Geography, State University of Montes Claros (Unimontes in Montes Claros-MG. For this purpose a survey was conducted literature and interviews with professionals who have worked(am) in the course. The Geography course began in 1964, the premises of the Immaculate Conception School a year after being transferred to house centenary of Northern Mining Foundation of Higher Education (FUNM). In 1992 it was incorporated into the Center for Humanities (CCH) Unimontes enjoying the best structure to enable students to carry out teaching, thus making it a teacher-geographer. Since 1996 the regular course work and free inMontes Claros and Pirapora, there are many challenges ahead for greater enhancement of the course, however it has excelled at the national level of excellence in quality.

Especificamente nos cursos de licenciatura em Geografia, é essencial que o acadêmico detenha conhecimentos sólidos acerca da Ciência Geográfica, tenha didática, ética, habilidades e competências para desenvolver atividades de forma pedagogicamente adequada à demanda assim que ingressar no mercado de trabalho. Neste sentido, este estudo tem por objetivo apresentar uma trajetória do curso de graduação em Geografia da Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (Unimontes). Para tanto foi realizada pesquisa bibliografia e entrevistas com profissionais atuantes e que já atuaram no curso. O curso de Geografia iniciou em 1964, nas instalações do Colégio Imaculada Conceição sendo transferido um ano após para o casarão centenário da Fundação Norte Mineira de Ensino Superior (FUNM). Em 1992 foi incorporado ao Centro de Ciências Humanas (CCH) da Unimontes gozando de melhor estrutura para capacitar educandos para o exercício da docência, tornando-o assim um professor.
