Occupied Coastal Marine Lands in the Estuarine Shoreline of the Northern Coast of Paraná

The marine lands are union assets managed by the Union Heritage Secretariat (SPU). These lands are located mostly in coastal regions and can be used by private individuals, when there is not established public destination. It is noted that in the northern part of the coast of Paraná the delimitation of these lands is almost not existent, which results in some conflicts of territory management in the Integrated Management Center (NGI) ICMBio Antonina-Guaraqueçaba, a federal organizational unit that covers several conservation units inside itself. Therefore, the objective of this work is to contribute to the process of delimitation of marine lands in the occupied areas in the estuarine coastline of the NGI. As such, consultations were conducted on the available bibliography, interviews with representatives of the most active institutions in this theme (SPU and ICMBio) and the use of present tools in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the occupied localities. The obtained results show that there are 56 stretches occupied along the estuary, where the resident population is composed by traditional residents. These stretches have up to 2.9 km, which means they are relatively short stretches, showing feasible the delimitation of marine land.
