Resumo: The Project Management Discipline has been widely used in the last years for companies aroundthe world and these companies have been investing large amounts on surveys, training andconsulting in order to get benefits for the organizations that need to create competitive advantage inthe high competitive Market and to achieve their business strategy goals. Studies from the majorworld authors show many ways to define success at the organizations. In Brazil, the BenchmarkingStudy in GP from the PMI Chapters in 2009, show most studied companies don’t have a process doassess whether they are achieving the expected business goals with their investments in ProjectManagement. This article goal is to demonstrate many ways to define success in project, which willfacilitate the process to assess whether the companies are achieving these expected goals. Themethodology used was a literature review, collecting publications, textbooks and documents fromsubject-matter-experts.

Themethodology used was a literature review, collecting publications, textbooks and documents fromsubject-matter-experts.A disciplina de Gerenciamento de Projetos vem sendo adotada amplamente nos últimos anos por empresas do mundo inteiro e as empresas têm feito altos investimentos em pesquisa, treinamento e consultoria nessa área com a finalidade de trazer benefícios para as organizações que precisam criar vantagens no mercado de alta competitividade e alcançar seus objetivos estratégicos de negócio. Estudos dos principais autores mundiais mostram diversas formas de definir sucesso nas organizações. No Brasil, o Estudo de Benchmarking em GP dos capítulos do PMI de 2009 mostra que no cenário nacional, a grande maioria das empresas investigadas não possui um processo para avaliar se estão alcançando os objetivos de negócio esperados com os investimentos em Gerenciamento de Projetos. O objetivo final desse artigo é demonstrar diversas formas de definir sucesso em projetos, o que facilitará o processo de avaliação do alcance dos benefícios esperados.
