Competence Management in Project Management: Study in Large Companies in the Sector of Construction in Minas Gerais, Brazil

Resumo: | This article discusses the competencies required of project managers who work in the Construction sector. It is based on a survey involving 27 large companies based in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais. These companies were selected by the representativeness criteria with the support of the President of Construction Exchange Group on Human Resources (HR-GICC) linked to the Construction Industry Union in the State of Minas Gerais (SINDUSCON-MG). Respondents were appointed by the leaders of their respective companies. Data were collected in the second half of 2014, by reasoned questionnaire in the framework proposed by Quinn et al. (2003). They surveyed 45 project managers who work at the interface with the Human Resources Area (ARH). Data processing was based on descriptive statistics. The results indicate that, in Construction, project management has demanded, especially skills related to Mentor roles, Producer and Director, prevailing models of rational targets and human relations. |

Fundamenta-se em survey que envolveu 27 grandes empresas sediadas na região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, em Minas Gerais. Essas empresas foram selecionadas pelo critério de representatividade com o apoio do presidente do Grupo de Intercâmbio da Construção Civil em Recursos Humanos (GICC-RH) vinculado ao Sindicato da Indústria da Construção Civil no Estado de Minas Gerais (SINDUSCON-MG). Os respondentes foram indicados pelos dirigentes das respectivas empresas. Os dados foram coletados, no segundo semestre de 2014, por meio de questionário fundamentado no framework proposto por Quinn et al. (2003). Foram inqueridos 45 gerentes de projetos que atuam na interface com a Área de Recursos Humanos (ARH). O tratamento de dados baseou-se em estatística descritiva. Os resultados sinalizam que, na Construção Civil, a gestão de projetos tem demandado, sobretudo, competências relacionadas aos papéis de Mentor, Produtor e Diretor, predominando os modelos de metas racionais e de relações humanas.
