Profile of judo teachers from the State of Paraná - Brazil

Resumo: The present study aimed to analyze the profile of judo teachers from the State of Paraná. This research was characterized as a qualitative descriptive study. The sample was composed by 64 judo teachers from the State of Paraná. The instrument used for data collection was a semi-structured questionnaire, with open and closed questions. For data analysis, it was used a content analysis and the descriptive statistics (mean, percentage and standard deviation), as well as tables for the results presentation. The results pointed out that the majority of judo teachers are men that who are graduated or are graduating in physical education; all of them have a long practice time (28.48 years) and the main objective with judo is to train citizens. In conclusion, the senseis pedagogical practice from Parana has been changing gradually and approaching to pedagogical models of contemporary physical education. For these teachers, judo is still an educational practice, disciplinary and a form of character formation. This educational speech is updated to the present through pedagogical and ludic devices in the judo teaching in Paraná.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar o perfil dos professores de judô do Estado do Paraná. Essa pesquisa caracterizou-se como um estudo descritivo de cunho qualitativo. A amostra foi composta por 64 professores de judô do Estado do Paraná. O instrumento utilizado para coleta de dados foi um questionário semiestruturado, com questões abertas e fechadas. Para a análise dos dados foi utilizado a análise de conteúdo e a estatística descritiva (média, percentual e desvio padrão), além de tabelas para apresentação dos resultados. Os resultados apontaram que a maioria dos professores de judô são homens, graduados ou se graduando em educação física; todos têm um prolongado tempo de prática (28,48 anos) e o principal objetivo com o judô é formar cidadãos. Em conclusão, a prática pedagógica dos senseis do Paraná vem aos poucos se alterando e se aproximando de modelos pedagógicos da educação física contemporânea. Para esses professores, o judô ainda é uma prática educativa, disciplinadora e formadora de caráter.
