Resumo: | BACKGROUND: In a scenario of global crisis at COVID-19, we live in a distance from the possibilities of participation in different social moments, including sports. There was the cancellation of in-person events, however, online events proved to be a possibility.OBJECTIVE: Identify the online gymnastics sporting events that took place in Brazil during the pandemic (March 2020 to April 2021), bringing a profile about them.METHODS: For this study, we opted for the quantitative method of data collection. Data collection was carried out through social networks: Instagram®, Facebook® and Youtube®. For data analysis, we followed the parameters of quantitative analysis, using statistics to generalize findings. RESULTS: A total of 75 gymnastic events online were found and analyzed in the pre-established period. The main data observed were in relation to the proposing institutions of a private nature, in which they stood out in the organization of these events, representing a total of 29,3 %. The most prominent month was October 2020, with 15 events. We identified the predominance of the Southeast region (58,6%) in the management of these meetings and the most used platform was Zoom Meetings® (28%). Events with a competitive bias had a greater reach (60%) compared to those with a festive bias (40%). Regarding the type of gymnastics, the most contemplated modality was Rhythmic Gymnastics (72%), equivalent to 54 events. We noticed that most events had a mixed category (97,3%). Finally, we found a preference for the individual format of participation (80%), it means, we could watch just one gymnast at a time. CONCLUSION: The use of virtual platforms was evident for maintenance and visibility of gymnastics events, as well as a possible motivation and permanence in practice, mostly in the competitive perspective of rhythmic gymnastics. |
