O artigo tem por objetivo introduzir a “exposição de motivos” da Constituição Mexicana de 1917 em seu contexto histórico, entendendo-a como fonte histórica de importância fundamental para a história política e jurídica da Revolução Mexicana. A exposição de motivos tem como potencial delinear a construção discursiva e as razões explicitadas para um novo arcabouço constitucional e legislativo, no caso, o da Revolução Mexicana. Analisa-se assim o discurso do revolucionário Venustiano Carranza e os elementos políticos e identitários do seu discurso pró-revolucionário. Abstract The article aims to introduce the "Exposition of Motives" of the Mexico’s 1917 Constitution in its historical context, understanding that document as a historical source of fundamental importance for the political and legal history of the Mexican Revolution. An constitutional exposition of motives has the potential to delineate the discursive construction and the reasons explained for a new constitutional and legislative framework, in this case, the Mexican Revolution. The article analyses Venustiano Carranza’s speech and the political and national-identity elements of his pro-revolutionary discourse.
