Resumo: The need for conservation and protection of the environment is indisputable. To do so, individuals need to be made aware and, for this awareness to spread between present and future generations, it is important to work Environmental Education within the school. With this, the present work aimed to know the conceptions of students of the Basic Education of a public school about Environmental Education and its slopes belonging. Eight classes were selected and divided into four classes of elementary education and four classes of secondary education. Each class was represented by 20 students randomly selected, totaling 160 students and four teachers who were participants in the research. The work was done through the application of semistructured interviews / questionnaires for students and teachers, and the analysis of the curricular proposals for the approach of environmental education in the school. It was possible to diagnose that despite the age range of the students, they hold fragmented concepts and definitions regarding the subject. The school approaches environmental education in a way and in isolated moments, so it is considered that periodic and continuous work must be carried out. In this way, a continuous approach to the subject is necessary in public schools, making possible in a contextualized way the construction of knowledge and students committed to the natural environment.

Para ello, los individuos necesitan ser conscientizados y, para que esta toma de conciencia se prolongue entre presentes y futuras generaciones, son importantes que se trabaje la Educación Ambiental dentro de la escuela. Con ello, el presente trabajo buscó conocer las concepciones de alumnos de la Educación Básica de una escuela pública acerca de la Educación Ambiental y sus vertientes pertenecientes. Se seleccionaron ocho grupos de los cuales fueron subdivididos en cuatro grupos de la enseñanza primaria y cuatro grupos de enseñanza media. Cada clase fue representada por 20 alumnos seleccionados de manera aleatoria, totalizando 160 alumnos y cuatro profesores que fueron participantes de la investigación. El trabajo se dio por medio de la aplicación de entrevistas / cuestionarios semiestructurados destinados a alumnos y profesores, y del análisis de las propuestas curriculares para el abordaje de la educación ambiental en la escuela. Se pudo diagnosticar que a pesar del grupo de edad de los alumnos, los mismos detienen conceptos y definiciones fragmentadas en cuanto al tema. La escuela aborda de manera y en momentos aislados la educación ambiental, de modo que se considera que debe realizarse un trabajo periódico y continuo. De esta forma, es necesario un enfoque continuo del tema en las escuelas públicas, posibilitando de forma contextualizada la construcción de conocimiento y de alumnos comprometidos con el medio ambiente natural.É indiscutível a necessidade de conservação e defesa do meio ambiente. Para tanto, os indivíduos precisam ser conscientizados e, para que esta tomada de consciência se alastre entre presentes e futuras gerações, é importante que se trabalhe a Educação Ambiental dentro da escola. Com isso, o presente trabalho objetivou conhecer as concepções de alunos da Educação Básica de uma escola pública acerca da Educação Ambiental e suas vertentes pertencentes. Foram selecionadas oito turmas que foram subdivididas em quatro turmas do ensino Fundamental e quatro turmas do ensino Médio. Cada turma foi representada por 20 alunos selecionados de maneira aleatória, totalizando 160 alunos e quatro professores que foram participantes da pesquisa. O trabalho se deu por meio da aplicação de entrevistas/questionários semiestruturados destinados a alunos e professores, e da análise das propostas curriculares para a abordagem da educação ambiental na escola. Foi possível diagnosticar que apesar da faixa etária dos alunos, os mesmos detêm conceitos e definições fragmentadas quanto ao tema. A escola aborda de maneira e em momentos isolados a educação ambiental, de modo que se considera que deve ser realizado um trabalho periódico e contínuo.
