Women living with hiv and pregnancy: understanding their (de)motivations

Resumo: | Objective: to understand the (de)motivations of women living with HIV in the decision of getting pregnant. Method: data analysis was carried out through semi-structured interviews with nine women. The data was collected by the Bardin content analysis technique and organized according to Oliveira. Results: three thematic categories were created: Socioeconomic and sociocultural aspects that (de)motivate pregnancy; Feelings of women living with HIV about pregnancy; HIV and pregnancy. Final considerations: there is a certain relevance of the socioeconomic conditions of these women alongside with information on the matter and in addition to other issues they end up having a certain influence both on the desire for pregnancy or the lack of it. In addition, the fear of transmission was significant among the participants. It is the nurse's role to accommodate the demands of this woman to contribute to her autonomy in the decision for pregnancy. |

Método: la recolección de datos ocurrió a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas con nueve mujeres, siendo los datos analizados utilizando la técnica de análisis de contenido de Bardin, siendo organizados según Oliveira. Resultados: se crearon tres categorías temáticas: Aspectos socioeconómicos y socioculturales que (des)motivan el embarazo; Sentimientos de las mujeres que viven con el VIH sobre el embarazo; VIH y embarazo. Consideraciones finales: hay cierta relevancia de las condiciones socioeconómicas de estas mujeres junto con la información sobre el tema y, junto con otras cuestiones, acaban teniendo cierta influencia tanto en el deseo de embarazo como en la falta de él. Además, el miedo a la transmisión estuvo muy presente entre los participantes. Es papel de la enfermera acomodar las demandas de esta mujer para contribuir a su autonomía en la decisión por el embarazo.Objetivo: compreender as (des)motivações das mulheres que vivem com HIV na decisão de engravidar. Método: a coleta de dados se deu através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com nove mulheres, tendo os dados analisados pela técnica de análise de conteúdo de Bardin, sendo organizados segundo Oliveira. Resultados: foram criadas três categorias temáticas: Aspectos socioeconômicos e socioculturais que (des)motivam a gravidez; Sentimentos de mulheres que vivem com HIV quanto a gestação; HIV e gravidez. Considerações finais: há uma certa relevância das condições socioeconômicas dessas mulheres em conjunto com informações sobre o assunto e, junto de outras questões, acabam por ter certa influência tanto no desejo pela gravidez quanto na falta dele. Além disso, o medo da transmissão se fez muito presente entre as participantes. É papel do enfermeiro acolher as demandas dessa mulher para contribuir com sua autonomia na decisão pela gravidez.
