The function of the imaginary in the formation of inferences during the reading act

Resumo: The objective of the present work is to demonstrate that the imaginary, understood in a creator view, as made by researchers as Gilbert Durand and Michel Maffesoli, among others, acts in a decisive way in the types of inferences formed during the reading act. Developed with basis on bibliographic research, this work presents, initially, the concepts of imaginary adopted, as well as the material relative to the inference in reading, especially the book Leitura: inferências e contexto sociocultural (Reading: inferences and socialcultural context), written by Regina Lúcia Péret Dell’Isola, complemented with studies of other authors. Finally, is analyzed the function performed by the imaginary in the formation of inferences during the reading act. Through this study, is possible to percept that the inference, created in the mind of the reader during the reading act, is a product of the imaginary. So, the imaginary is fundamental in the formation of the inferences, because increases the number of possible readings. At the same time, the reading also has an important function in the constitution of the imaginary, because allows the formation of new images that will compose and enrich it.

Desenvolvido com base em pesquisa bibliográfica, este trabalho apresenta, inicialmente, os conceitos de imaginário adotados, bem como o material de pesquisa relativo à inferência em leitura, de maneira especial a obra Leitura: inferências e contexto sociocultural, de Regina Lúcia Péret Dell’Isola, com complementações a partir de obras de outros autores. Por fim, é analisado do papel desempenhado pelo imaginário na formação de inferências no ato de leitura. Através do estudo realizado, pode-se perceber que a inferência, criada na mente do leitor durante a leitura, é fruto do imaginário, sendo este fundamental na formação daquela, na medida em que aumenta o número de leituras possíveis.
