Sociodemographic and clinical aspects of elderly woman with cervical cancer

Resumo: Background and objectives: The increase in life expectancy brought in response to increase in the elderly population, especially women, therefore chronic degenerative diseases, especially cancer of the cervix. The aim of this study was to analyse the sociodemographic, clinical and treatment of elderly woman with cervical cancer registered in the database of a reference hospital in oncology to Piaui from 2008 to 2012. Methods: Retrospective descriptive study made 226 electronic medical records of elderly women with cervical cancer included in the January 2008 first period to 31 December 2012. Results: predominant age group 70 years or older (61.5%); brown ethnicity (47.5%); Married (51%); illiterate (43%) and retired (87.9%). As for the clinical characteristics and treatment performed was especially cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II (35.4%), followed by cervical intraepithelial neoplasia III (26.1%). For the histological type predominant squamous cell carcinoma (59.2%), followed adenomas (24.7%). The prevalence of treatment there was an association between chemotherapy and radiotherapy (55.7%) and Surgical plus radiotherapy and chemotherapy (38%) members. Conclusion: The results show that increasing age, the mulatto race, low education are intimately factors associated with low socio economic level que directly or indirectly exposes woman more susceptible to chronic degenerative diseases, especially cancer of the cervix.

O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o perfil sociodemografico, clinico e tratamento da mulher idosa com câncer do colo do útero cadastrada na base de dados de um hospital de referencia em oncologia para o Piauí no período de 2008 a 2012. Metodologia: estudo retrospectivo e descritivo constituído de 226 prontuários eletrônicos de idosas com câncer de colo do útero compreendidos no período de primeiro de janeiro de 2008 a 31 de dezembro de 2012. Resultados: predominou a faixa etária de 70 anos e mais idade (61,5%); etnia parda (47,5%); casadas (51%); analfabeta (43%) e aposentadas (87,9%). Quanto às características clinicas e tratamento realizado houve destaque para neoplasia intra epitelial cervical II(35,4%), seguido de neoplasia intra-epitelial cervical III (26,1%). Para o tipo histológico predominou o carcinoma de células escamosas (59,2%), seguindo de adenomas (24,7%). Quanto ao tratamento houve prevalência da associação entre quimioterapia e radioterapia (55,7%) e Cirúrgico mais radioterapia e quimioterapia (38%) associados. Conclusão: os resultados evidenciam que o aumento da idade, a raça cor parda, a baixa escolaridade são fatores intimamente associados ao baixo nível socioeconômico que de forma direta ou indireta expõe a mulher mais susceptível às doenças crônicas degenerativas, principalmente o câncer de colo do útero.
