Sociodemographic, labor and clinical aspects of families with children with ASD

Resumo: This study aimed to investigate and characterize the sociodemographic, labor and clinical aspects of families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD. This is a quantitative, observational, transversal and descriptive study, carried out in the national territory, based on the application of an online questionnaire. 91 mothers and 1 father of children/adolescents diagnosed with ASD aged from 2 to 18 years participated in the study. The results show that most guardians were married (79.3%) and with higher education (65.3%), living in the States of the South (50%) and North (21.7%). As for the health status of parents, 44.6% perform some health monitoring, of which 29,3% are physical health and 20.7% mental health. Regarding children with ASD, 80.4% were male, at Level 1 – Mild (72.8%), with ADHD as comorbidity (22.8%). The data point to the relevance of an ASD analysis under a systemic view of the family and its needs, in order to identify the sociodemographic, labor and clinical characteristics of families with autistic children, in order to support professionals who work with the treatment.

Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo, observacional, transversal y descriptivo, realizado en el territorio nacional, basado en la aplicación de un cuestionario online. En el estudio participaron 91 madres y 1 padre de niños / adolescentes con diagnóstico de TEA de 2 a 18 años. Los resultados muestran que la mayoría de los tutores estaban casados (79,3%) y con estudios superiores (65,3%), residiendo en los Estados del Sur (50%) y Norte (21,7%). Encuanto al estado de salud de los padres, el 44,6% realizam algún seguimiento de salud, de los cuales el 29,3% son salud física y el 20,7% salud mental. Encuanto a los niños con TEA, el 80,4% eran varones, en el Nivel 1 - Leve (72,8%), con TDAH como comorbilidad (22,8%). Los datos apuntan a la relevancia de un análisis de TEA bajo una visión sistémica de la familia y sus necesidades, con el fin de identificar las características sociodemográficas, laborales y clínicas de las familias con niños autistas, con el fin de apoyar a los profesionales que trabajan con el tratamiento.Este estudo objetivou investigar e caracterizar os aspectos sociodemográficos, laborais e clínicos de famílias com filhos diagnosticados com Transtorno do Espectro Autista - TEA. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, observacional, transversal e descritivo, realizado no território nacional, a partir da aplicação de um Questionário on-line. Participaram do estudo 91 mães e 1 pai de crianças/adolescentes diagnosticados com TEA com idades de dois a 18 anos. Os resultados apontam que a maioria dos responsáveis eram casados (79,3%) e com ensino superior (65,3%), residentes nos Estados da Região Sul (50%) e Norte (21,7%). Quanto ao estado de saúde dos pais 44,6% realizam algum acompanhamento de saúde, dos quais 29,3% de saúde física e 20,7% de saúde mental. Em relação aos filhos com TEA, 80,4% eram do gênero masculino, em Nível 1(72,8%), com TDAH como comorbidade (22,8%).
