Migrants images: The photographic document in contemporary art

Resumo: | In contemporary, documental photographic journalistic images lose space to other media, more appropriate to the serving speed demanded nowadays – the moment when its primary function, information, is dislocated. Equally, photography albums, a collection of documental images that belong to the private sphere, open themselves to the public space in social media; such exposure will permit derivations and appropriations of that kind of images. These derivations, seen as expansions, indicate the possibility of these images to adhere to another place, the art field. We shall think this use of the (public and private) photographic document. The works of the artists Miguel Rio Branco and Nan Goldin, given their specificities, will serve us to reflect on the issue. The concepts of Minor Photography (Gonçalves, 2009) and Crystal Image (Deleuze, 2007), considered to be qualifiers of this kind of image (migrant), will be approached.Keywords: art, crystal image, Minor Photography, Miguel Rio Branco, Nan Goldin. |

De igual modo, os álbuns fotográficos, coleção de imagens documentais da esfera do privado, se abrem para o espaço público das redes; tal exposição irá possibilitar derivações e apropriações desse tipo de imagem. Essas derivações, vistas como expansões, indicam a possibilidade dessas imagens aderirem a um novo lugar, qual seja, o do campo da arte. Buscar-se-á pensar esse uso do documento fotográfico (público e privado). O trabalho dos artistas Miguel Rio Branco e Nan Goldin, guardadas suas especificidades, nos servirão para refletir sobre a problemática.
