Femicide and gender humiliation: violations, degradation, and extermination of female bodies

Resumo: This article starts from the notion of humiliation as a rationally oriented action, that is, as practices of subjection and moral and/or physical degradation of individual and collective people, that result in humiliation processes, such as femicide. The analytical and argumentative path alludes to some historical cases of femicide in Brazil in different periods and to the Memorial de Feminicídios de Londrina, produced by Néias – Observatório de Feminicídios, with records of attempted femicides and cases of carrying out the act, between 2015 to 2022, occurred in the district of Londrina. These are cases that reveal a more general situation in relation to the whole country. We argue that despite a supposed randomness, such cases establish strong connections with each other, as they are the expression of a hierarchical structure, established by asymmetrical relations of symbolic power and legitimizing concrete situations of violations, degradations, and exterminations of female bodies.

O percurso analítico-argumentativo alude a alguns casos históricos de feminicídio no Brasil em diferentes períodos e ao Memorial de Feminicídios de Londrina, produzido pelo Néias – Observatório de Feminicídios, com registros de tentativas de feminicídios e de casos de concretização do ato, no intervalo entre 2015 e 2022, ocorridos na comarca de Londrina. São casos reveladores de uma situação mais genérica em relação a todo o país.
