Resumo: | This article addresses the issue of intermediality through the relationship between literature and cinema, taking as its object of analysis the film The Birds (1963), by director Alfred Hitchcock, adapted from the homonymous short story by English writer Daphne du Maurier. It is an analysis of the director's creative process with regard to adaptation, the ways in which the construction of his work articulates questions of authorship and the consolidation of the suspense cinematographic genre. In the work of the director, who reinvents the literary narrative to produce suspense in the cinematographic language, the exercise of montage works to manipulate time and space, giving the film at the same time a gesture agreed by the authorial style and by the cinematographic genre in the specific context of the way of filming. classic Hollywood production. |

Trata-se de uma análise do processo criativo do diretor no que diz respeito à adaptação, aos modos como a construção de sua obra articula questões de autoria e a consolidação do gênero cinematográfico suspense.
