Resumo: | In this article, we intend to analyze Brazilian Cinema of the seventies 70's, and we chose as its focus O Amuleto de Ogum, directed by Nelson Pereira dos Santos in 1973-74. We focused on the centrality of rituals relied to Afro-Brazilian religions in the film and in its reception. We start from the following this question: how the movie incorporates Afro-Brazilian rituals to its narration and, by consequence, to its representation of popular culture? We follow the hypothesis that O Amuleto de Ogum reveals some aspects of race relations and its hierarchy showed in day-by-day interactions and in mass culture. |

Neste artigo, pretendemos abordar o cinema brasileiro da década de 1970 e elegemos como foco da análise o filme O Amuleto de Ogum, dirigido por Nelson Pereira dos Santos em 1973-74. Escolhemos deter-nos na centralidade ocupada pelos rituais afro-brasileiros tanto na narrativa fílmica quanto em sua recepção. Partimos da seguinte questão: como o filme incorpora os rituais afro-brasileiros à sua narrativa e, portanto, à sua representação da cultura popular?
